Although I did not have the usual fatherly support system my women peers had, I battled my way though university with single minded determination, and finally got my degree. Thinking that I had finally made it, I realised my journey had only started.
Years later, I proved myself to be worthy of the engineering profession, but did not quite have the social skills to climb the corporate ladder. I thought that all you needed to do was work hard and you will be recognised and rewarded for your work.
I also made the courageous plunge into being an entrepreneur, only realising that I did not know how to sell, market or have the faintest clue about doing business. So off to school again I went, this time to get a Masters Degree in Business Leadership (MBL). It had to be the most difficult and prestigious option, otherwise I would not be respected? Right?
